If I had known that number at the time, I might have pushed a little harder to get at least one more sale to make it an even 400, but here we are. I’m not complaining.
At the time, I had less than 1,000 followers.
My account had only been active for 3 months.
And my overall reach was less than 5k.
My sales were for products ranging from $9 to $97, with the majority of them being a single product in the $47 range.
I’ll tell you straight away that it wasn’t a result of ads. All of my sales were 100% organic.
Honestly, it boiled down to 3 key factors: market research, messaging, and the perfect offer.
I started my Instagram account on March 5 and got busy right away making connections with other people in my niche.
I wanted to know more about THEM.
Their goals. Their dreams. Their desires for business.
I wanted to know where they were in their business journey, but also, what they were struggling with.
This might sound crazy, but I made it my mission to reach out & connect with every single person who followed on my account.
This took A LOT of time.
Some days I would be in my DM’s for several hours. However…this ended up serving multiple purposes, so it was worth it.
In my niche – the digital business niche – this is even more important than ever.
Having real conversations with people really set me up for a great month of sales because I wasn’t just trying to sell to them. I had become a friend.
This is why market research matters to much. If you know what your people are struggling with, you can create the perfect offer for them to help them solve a specific problem.
So, that’s what I did.
I learned what my following was struggling with and I crafted an offer to help them fill a need.
It was the perfect product pitched at the perfect time at the perfect price.
There had been other products similar to mine that have been created before, but I knew that in order to sell mine like hotcakes, I needed to really speak to the desires of my following.
Now that I had a deep understand of my people, I was able to craft a product that solved their problem.
I didn’t try to sell them the features.
Rather, I was speaking to their pain points and my product was giving them a fast & simple solution to their problem.
Another thing too…
My audience is BIG on affiliate products.
Most of my following are beginners to selling digital products.
Instead of creating their own products that takes a lot of time & effort (did you catch that it took me 3 months of market research?), they enjoy promoting done-for-you products that they can earn a commission from.
If I hadn’t made this an affiliate product, I have no doubts that my sales would not have been as high as they were.
Making this an affiliate product was the ticket to maximizing my sales & building a larger pool of potential future customers.
Up until this point, there hadn’t been a lot of products in my industry that had been created like mine at a price like mine.
I had a deep understanding that the people in my industry were dog tired of spending big bucks on big courses & not gaining the sales traction they desired.
So I knew that I needed to create something much more affordable AND full of value so that it would be a no-brainer.
That’s when Fast Track Stories was launched.
And it was a no-brainer purchase for 3 reasons: the promise, the price & the affiliate opportunity.
I was sharing the secrets to getting high story views (something that my audience was struggling with).
I was sharing how to get more engagement in Instagram stories (another thing that my audience was struggling with).
And I was sharing the formula & plug n’ play scripts to sell more in stories (something that my audience was also struggling with).
This is HUGE.
If your customers can see INSTANT results from your products, then they will be more likely to share your products and come back for future offers.
That was my goal.
And I believe that is why my product took off like it did.
It filled a need. It gave people REAL results, FAST. And it gave people the opportunity to earn commissions.
win. win. win.
Overall, it was a lot of work figuring out just how to serve my audience & create the PERFECT offer for them that resulted in 399 sales in my 4th month of business.
