Be it for business, a hobby, a personal account, or a new hub, you’re probably here wondering how to start getting followers.
I mean, it’s the whole reason you started an account, right? To get more people to discover your page and follow you.
Instagram can be a great platform to start or expand your business, get discovered, and even generate sales. But, you will need followers in order to do so.
Getting your first 1,000 followers on Instagram is pretty straight forward, but there are a few things you can do to get them more quickly.
Before you focus on getting new followers, make sure your first post (or one of your first posts) is a welcoming photo of you and your beautiful face.
This will help break the ice and get your followers to know what your page is about.
It might seem silly to create a hello post when you have little to no followers, but once people start eyeing your account, they will feel more assured knowing who they are going to be following.
If they can put a face to your feed, then all the better.
And if you have already been posting without making an intro, do one now before you start aiming to gain new followers!
The easiest way to get your first followers is to invite your friends and acquaintances to come follow you. These are people who already know and trust you, so why wouldn’t they follow you?!
Whenever I have started a new Instagram account, this alone has landed me at least 50 followers in one day.
And once more people show up, others will be more inclined to follow you as well!
To get noticed on Instagram to gain more followers, your focus should include good photos, honesty, and authenticity.
As for honesty, just be yourself and don’t come across as spammy.
Leave real comments on people’s photos and follow accounts that inspire you – DON’T follow for a follow.
Authenticity, well, it’s just that. Be real and show that you care. In return, you’ll have followers who love to follow you and participate in your posts!
This is BIG when you’re a small account.
Take some time to seek out some larger accounts in your niche and be sure to check in a few times a day to see when they are posting.
If you can figure out their posting schedule, this can be a HUGE asset to your account because you can be the first to comment.
Why does this matter?
Big accounts usually get a lot of comments and eyeballs on their posts. If you can leave a really thought-provoking comment as one of the first, you have the opportunity for a lot of their followers to see your comment.
This is my preferred method of gaining traction fast on Instagram.
You’re not driving yourself into the ground by creating a ton of content, but connecting with others in your niche.
By using relevant hashtags to your desired audience, you’ll be able to get your photos in front of more people and spreading your reach further.
Before you begin using random hashtags, take a few minutes to search for hashtags that resonate with your ideal audience.
Ideally, find a handful of hashtags that are used often enough, but not so much that your posts will get lost within minutes.
I aim to find hashtags that have anywhere from 1,000-10,000 photos to the tag itself, that way I know it’s being used, but the competition isn’t too great – and also my posts won’t be buried within seconds of me posting.
Once you find suitable hashtags, you can use up to 30 per post, do use them to your advantage & spread your reach further with every photo!
This is golden and so vital to gaining your first followers.
Imagine if someone came to your feed and not only liked your photos, but made genuine comments and engaged with what you had to say?
I bet it would make you feel pretty good!
Now use that concept to seek out others that you think might find your feed interesting. Like, comment, and even follow the ones that you’re truly interested in.
Once others notice that you are taking an interest in their content, they will be more likely to like, comment and follow you back!
Though this method is far from easy (as it can be very time consuming), the results are tremendous and the connections you make with others can truly be invaluable. Give it a try and gain some new followers today!
Once someone comes over to check out your account, you only have a few seconds to captivate their attention to turn them into a follower.
In addition to making sure your feed looks cohesive and on point with your branding, you need to make sure your bio is well constructed.
Having your name, business name, and a few facts/stats that catching and fun will help you stand out and get others to notice you better.
The simplest thing you can do is go to your favorite Instagram accounts and take a look at their bio.
What do you like about it? What catches your eye? What makes you smile or chuckle?
Take note and put your own spin on it to concoct the perfect bio for you & your future audience
